Smith’s Prosthetic Deadener

Smith’s Theatrical Prosthetic Deadener is an additive for PlatSil® Gels used to create soft, flexible silicone gels for prosthetic appliances, silicone masks, and animatronic skins. Adjusting the amount of deadener changes the softness of the finished gel.

General starting guidelines

• Silicone masks: add approximately 50% Deadener to the combined Part A and Part B weight.
• Animatronic skins: add approximately 100% Deadener.
• Prosthetic appliances: add approximately 180–200% Deadener.

These percentages are starting points; test the material for the required softness and performance. Deadening the silicone creates a tacky gel surface, so the gel must be encapsulated with a compatible silicone skin or bald-cap plastic to produce a dry, workable surface.
